Island Lake Lodge, located approximately 14 km (8.75 mi) from Fernie, is a well-appointed lodge complex which features outstanding catskiing, snowboarding and cross country skiing packages in the winter and spectacular hiking packages in the summer. The resort offers an impressive array of amenities including a fine dining restaurant, a bar, wireless Internet access, a hot tub, a common fireplace and a full-service spa. In winter, snowcat transportation to the lodge is provided from Fernie while in summer the lodge is accessible by a gravel road.

rocky-peak Holidays specializes in customized ski holidays in the Canadian Rockies and Western Canada. Packages available in Banff, Canmore, Lake Louise, Jasper, Whistler, Fernie and Kimberley and accommodation is provided in hotels, apartments, condos and resort homes.

Fernie Alpine Resort offers visitors and residents a range of winter and summer activities, including downhill skiing and snowboarding, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, winter tours and packages, and summer mountain biking.

Whether hitting the ski slopes for the first time or a long-time skier, Fernie's Winter Sports School offers ski and snowboard lessons for all skill levels. Both adult and kids programs are offered with a choice of group or private lessons. Instructors are trained and certified in alpine and cross country skiing, telemarking and snowboarding.

Cross country ski enthusiasts can tour one of the self-guided paths, or arrange for a tour and lessons at the resort. Lessons focus on technique and include a mountain heritage tour. The trail itself is approximately 10 km (6 mi) long and follows a figure eight pattern.

Heritage Snowshoe Tours inform visitors about the history of Fernie and the mountain landscape. These interpretive programs are offered two times a week in the afternoon, equipment is not included but can be rented on-site.

The resort also offers a variety of vacation deals and packages, featuring choice accommodations, from on-mountain lodging to ski-in/ski-out condos to economy rooms for budget travellers.

In summer, the resort opens for mountain biking and offers cross country, downhill, singletrack and dual slalom trails. Over 35 lift-accessed trails for all abilities are available, as well as lessons, clinics and equipment rentals.
