With the Elk River flowing through it and the tall cottonwood trees, Morrissey Provincial Park is both picturesque and visitor friendly. The park is located 16 km (10 mi) southeast of Fernie on Highway # 3.
Akamina-Kishinena Provincial Park is located at the very edge of southwest BC and the only way to reach the park from Canada is by a gravel road south on Hwy 3 at Morrissey Provincial Park. Akamina-Kishinena is rugged and undeveloped so while fishing, hiking, horseback riding and cross-country skiing are possible, there are no facilities or services in the park.
Located southwest of Fernie, Kikomun Creek Provincial Park is a delight to families. Three campgrounds, man-made Lake Koocanusa and a boat launch are all in the park. Camping is allowed from April to October and reservations are highly recommended.
Dogwood Park is situated along the Elk River and provides views of the Lizard Range. Attractions include a boat launch, picnic areas and Leroux pond.
Located close to the top of Crowsnest Pass, this provincial park is an ideal spot for a picnic and offers impressive scenery. Intended for day-use, facilities include picnic tables, toilets and drinking water.
Located 3 km (1.9 mi) south of the town of Fernie, this provincial park is small in size (259 hectare) but grand nonetheless. In the shadow of Mount Fernie, the area is home to abundant ferns, trees, wildflowers, black bears, deer and elk (please treat all with respect and caution). Interpretive trails, campsites and lovely waterfalls are also in Mount Fernie Provincial Park.
Rotary Park features play structures for kids, picnic areas, a gazebo and grass areas. During the summer, Rotary Park is the location for the Mountain Market.
